Part 3 - Last page of a 3 part series 2025/2026.
Nambucca River Tourist Park, Yarribini National Park, Grassy Head, Nambucca Heads & Raleigh Winery.
If you have stumbled on this page, please check out Parts 1 & 2 in the links below. Kicked out? Well it was Christmas holiday time at Woopi (locals reference to Woolgoolga). We had lived at Sunset Caravan Park, 5 mins walk to the beach for 6 months and now had to leave for 5 weeks whilst the tourists invaded Woopi. We didn't mind as we could save on our weekly rental costs and have a little holiday break ourselves. So we headed south to Kinchela, then Kempsey and now at Nambucca River Tourist Park, Macksville for the last week.

What a hidden treasure. Don't follow Google to get here or you'll never find it. We came in off the highway and onto Giinagay Way. The turn off is at K&J Glass at Warrell Creek. If you get this right, then just follow the signs. The road soon turns into dirt but can still be navigated with a 2 wheel drive, but not after rain.
Along the way there is a sign to the lookout. We didn't go there but continued on. There were a few washouts along the way that we stopped at and got some great photos. The Pines Picnic Area is a great spot for lunch so make sure you pack some. We wished that we had. It has BBQ facilities and toilets as well as a lovely walking track that isn't long but gives you a great impression of your surrounds. Trees and plants are sign posted, the walk along the creek bed is pleasant and there are plenty of birds with their unique sounds.
Continuing on Jimmy Ridge Road leads to Scotts Head Road where you can get back to the highway or take the Grassy Head Road to the beach like we did.
All in all it was a fantastic day out and highly recommended.

This is a picture postcard little place. I would imagine that it could have been the 'secret place' that everyone talks about and never wants to let on where it is. The sort of place that the more people you tell about your 'secret place', the more everyone knows about it. 😎
We enjoyed the view and I snapped off a few shots of this cute labrapoodle enjoying chase the ball on the beach.
Then we headed back via the coastal road to Stuarts Point. Not really much there but we dropped into the Tavern for a late lunch which was just ok, so no photos or reviews. Don't bother.
