2025/2026 - They Kicked us Out - PART 3

Nambucca Heads

Part 3 - Last page of a 3 part series 2025/2026.
Nambucca River Tourist Park, Yarribini National Park, Grassy Head, Nambucca Heads & Raleigh Winery.

If you have stumbled on this page, please check out Parts 1 & 2 in the links below.  Kicked out?  Well it was Christmas holiday time at Woopi (locals reference to Woolgoolga).  We had lived at Sunset Caravan Park, 5 mins walk to the beach for 6 months and now had to leave for 5 weeks whilst the tourists invaded Woopi.  We didn't mind as we could save on our weekly rental costs and have a little holiday break ourselves.  So we headed south to Kinchela, then Kempsey and now at Nambucca River Tourist Park, Macksville for the last week.

YARRIBINI NATIONAL PARK

What a hidden treasure.  Don't follow Google to get here or you'll never find it.  We came in off the highway and onto Giinagay Way.  The turn off is at K&J Glass at Warrell Creek.  If you get this right, then just follow the signs.  The road soon turns into dirt but can still be navigated with a 2 wheel drive, but not after rain.

Along the way there is a sign to the lookout.  We didn't go there but continued on.  There were a few washouts along the way that we stopped at and got some great photos.  The Pines Picnic Area is a great spot for lunch so make sure you pack some.  We wished that we had.  It has BBQ facilities and toilets as well as a lovely walking track that isn't long but gives you a great impression of your surrounds.  Trees and plants are sign posted, the walk along the creek bed is pleasant and there are plenty of birds with their unique sounds.

Continuing on Jimmy Ridge Road leads to Scotts Head Road where you can get back to the highway or take the Grassy Head Road to the beach like we did.

All in all it was a fantastic day out and highly recommended.

GRASSY HEAD

~~oOo~~

This is a picture postcard little place.  I would imagine that it could have been the 'secret place' that everyone talks about and never wants to let on where it is.  The sort of place that the more people you tell about your 'secret place', the more everyone knows about it.  😎

We enjoyed the view and I snapped off a few shots of this cute labrapoodle enjoying chase the ball on the beach.

Then we headed back via the coastal road to Stuarts Point.  Not really much there but we dropped into the Tavern for a late lunch which was just ok, so no photos or reviews.  Don't bother.

NAMBUCCA HEADS

Shelly Beach

~~oOo~~

After leaving Kempsey Showgrounds, we had 2 weeks before we could go back home to our spot at Sunset Caravan Park, Woolgoolga.  I also had to go back to work.  I work from the van for Medibank doing Provider Registrations.  I get to work from home, plus have every second Thursday off without doing any extra time.  I love it!

Anyway, I booked us into Nambucca River Tourist Park located along the river just outside of Macksville.  Nambucca River Tourist Park sounds so much better than Macksville River Caravan Park.
😏

Again, I am getting rather slack and no photos, so thanks to the Caravan Park, I have posted a couple of their photos to let you see what it is like.  It has the usual facilities, pool, pool table as well as mini golf and a large size outdoor chess game.  The price was good as well.  There is auto check in and out which we thought wasn't really a good idea as they don't have a boom gate which led itself to public abuse.  We saw a few cars that came in late in the afternoon when the office was closed and left early in the morning before sunrise.  We figured that they didn't pay a cent for their stay but got to use all of the facilities.  I sent an email to the office which they no doubt couldn't be bothered about because that is just staff anyway.  I also mentioned it in my Google review, which they probably should be bothered about.

We have been to Nambucca Heads before.  Check out my other page for photos of my favourite beach which is at the V-Wall.  This time, whilst I was working, hubby discovered the lookout and Shelly beach.  They are worth checking out.

Also, there is a fish coop just before Nambucca on the right hand side that do awesome fresh fish and chips.
We highly recommend.
Sorry, no photos.

RALEIGH WINERY

~~oOo~~

Check out that cheese & meat board!!

😋

Any winery that puts on a great cheese board has my vote.  Raleigh winery is the only vineyard in the surrounding Coffs Harbour area, so we had to come and check it out.  They charge for a tasting board, but then most Wineries do these days anyway.  We both liked the Rose & Reds.

The ambience is lovely, sitting on their verandah overlooking the river and staff were friendly and looked after us.  We will definately be back.
