Aussirose Travel and Photography: 2025/2026 - They Kicked us Out

December 2025 and we have lived at Sunset Caravan Park in Woopi (Local Lingo for Woolgoolga) for 6 months. The photo above was taken of the Christmas lights outside one of the vans in the Caravan Park with my Lensbaby art lens and heart bokkah disc. More photos at the end of this page.

Every Christmas time they kick the locals out to make way for holiday makers and double the rent accordingly. We didn't mind as we needed the break and we could also save money at the same time.

This is Part 1 of our 5 weeks away from home.

Kinchela, South West Rocks & Jerseyville.

KINCHELA

We have been here before, however last time we stayed in a pretty spot on the river. Check out my Kinchela page.

The Farmer had since divorced and bought a farm down the road but no river frontage. He was in the process of getting it ready for HipCamp but he answered to my message and said he would be happy for us to stay on the farm. Just us, long grass, and the cows.

I had asked how much he wanted for our stay without response, so by the time we had stayed for a few days he rocked around to discuss the cost. Last time we were stayed with him in the nice spot he charged $25 a night, so I thought it was reasonable to ask the same. No, he wanted $30. Really?

I paid for 1 week instead of 3 and wished him all the best. Shouldn't be so greedy.

Shame really because we like Kinchela. It is a farming area along the banks of the Macleay river. It is low lying so would flood easily so you would have to choose your time to stay here. I believe that the old place we stayed at is offering HipCamp on the river. It is called Windamere in case you want to stay here too. Check out my short video below.

SOUTH WEST ROCKS

This time we needed a nice quiet beach to take a much needed dip so we chose the Main Beach on the right hand side of the headland and Surf Lifesaving Club.

Yes there was a lot of seaweed, but that never bothers me. It's close to shore and just a few steps out and the water is crystal clear and calm. Just the perfect dip 😊

JERSEYVILLE

Jerseyville is on the way from Kinchela to South West Rocks. We bought some seafood from the seafood coop here. Don't bother. They charge like wounded bulls and to be honest, we have had fresher seafood from Woolies.

Anyway, Jerseyville has a Bird Hide that we thought we would check out. Don't bother with that either lol.

It is overgrown, full of spider webs and mozzies. We thought that the bush walk would be better. No.

What a shame.
