Millstream & Conjuboy

MILLSTREAM GOLF CLUB

~~oOo~~

Goodbye coast and beaches.  Our Big Lap is now taking us inland through the interior of Queensland.

I had originally planned to stay at Mt Garnet to experience the Innot Hot Springs, but we heard that they were closed.  So, in checking out what other things we could see, I found Millstream Falls.  You can see on Map 1 below the trip from Wonga Beach to Millstream, also showing Mt Garnet.

The Millstream Golf Club was offering powered sites for just $25 a night.  So we camped up there for a couple of days.  Hubby had planned to do a round of golf, however the rain came in and spoiled that for him.  At least he was able to do the falls which were nice.

MILLSTREAM FALLS

The Millstream Falls are just a quick 4 minute drive from the Golf Club.  The walk to see them is all footpath and takes just a couple of minutes.

We were able to do that in between showers.

THE BIG PEANUT MAN

Located before Tolga at Eventide Distillery is an Autralian Big Thing.  I was able to capture a quick snap as we drove past.

OASIS ROADHOUSE, CONJUBOY

~~oOo~~

Conjuboy has the biggest thing and the smallest thing.

Yes, you are looking at the biggest burger that we have ever seen.  Wrap your laughing gear around that!

😜

Conjuboy is also the home of Australia's smallest bar.

After all that fun and frivolity, things went down hill fast.

We camped here the night for $25, no power.  But that didn't matter as we did not have to unhook and were ready to go in the morning.

It took us 2 1/2 hours to get here and was going to take us another 2 1/2 hours to Hughenden.
So we headed off early next morning.

Half a k up the road we hit a road closed sign.  Whattha?.....
We drove back to the Roadhouse.

Lady at the Roadhouse said matter of factly, " Oh yes, that road has been closed for months and we have no idea when it will be opened again.  You'll have to go via Charters Towers."

Wonderful!  That has just added another 3 hours to our journey!  They could have told us that the day before and then we would not have stayed the night and wasted time and money.

My google review was not good.

This is the reason why the road was closed.
