This was a visit the family holiday, so if you are looking for a more things to do in Perth, please visit my Perth page.
Having said that, it was wonderful to get together with the family again as it had been a while. We were also very excited to learn that Dylan, our second eldest would be joining in too as he has been living in Brisbane for the past year.
Hubby and I are blessed to have 4 beautiful children, Kelli, Dylan, Janine and Jesse and their family, Kelli's Tom and Gabriel, Janine's Leigh and Jesse's Ellen. The only person missing from this photo was Ellen as she needed to be with her family down in Esperance. However we did catch up with Ellen & Jesse for a couple of dinners when she got back to Perth the following week, before we flew out.
We had a big family lunch at the Crouching Monkey which is located upstairs in the Brass Monkey Hotel complex in Northbridge. I would totally recommend this place for the 'feed me' menu. The Kingfish Crudo and corn ribs were next level! I would not hesitate to come back here when visiting family again. and gave them 5 stars on Google along with a great write up. Sorry, no photos, as we were too busy doing family stuff.

THE OAKS
~~oOo~~
We have stayed at various hotels in Perth and this is not one of those that I would choose to stay at again.
Ok, it is good for just 1 or 2 nights as it is in a perfect position right in the city and close to the malls, public transport and train station. The staff are friendly and kind. However the shower is in the bath and not good for us oldies or people with mobility problems, the aircon is noisy and for the cost, they do not have room service. No, if you want your bed made which is something that I like when I am on holiday and pay good money for a hotel, then don't stay here as it costs extra.
I would suggest to pay a little more and stay at the Adnate in Hay Street or a bit less and stay at the Ibis or Belgium Beer Hotel up the road.

SIMPLE ITALIAN CUCINA PIZZERIA
~~oOo~~
Kelli knows that I am not really into Asian cousine, so she arranged for us to eat Italian.
This Italian restuarant in Murray Street, not too far from our accommodation was pretty good. Not as good as my home Italian cooking, but who wants to cook when you are on holiday?
We enjoyed a lovely meal and were entertained by the cool staff that kept us amused, pictured to the left of the photo.

WHIPPER SNAPPER DISTILLERY
~~oOo~~
Kelli arranged for a family visit here. We had the whisky flight tastings which were nice. There was a distinct taste difference in the selection. Jesse and I liked the same ones. I think that he has developed a mature taste for whisky like his mum. 😄

TAPPAS BAR, SWAN VALLEY
~~oOo~~
In between visiting Kelli & Gabriel and Janine & Leigh at their places, we did lunch at The Tappas Bar in the Swan Valley, which is located next to Olive Grove Wines.
I would recommend this place as there is a great selection of Tappas which goes great with the accompanying wine. We will be back.
We also took the opportunity to visit the Providore place and Chocolate Factory. I grabbed my favourite blood orange olive oil to take back home and Hubby & Dylan raided the Chocolates.

DURTY NELLY'S
~~oOo~~
Duty Nelly's is always good value for money. This is our go to when in Perth. Hubby and I need somewhere close to eat for lunch as we were meeting the kids later for dinner. You can't go wrong with anything that you pick here.
I felt like a good guinness pie so that is why we chose this little Irish Pub in Shafto Lane. It was one of my lunch favourites when I worked for Bankwest in the city. The pie comes in a ramekin which I like and it was nice and hot with fluffy pastry that was crispy of top. Mmmm! So 5 google stars from me.
Hubby had curry prawns and said they were delicious.

VARNISH ON KING
~~oOo~~
I really like this little whisky bar in King Street. It is small, cosy and always packed, so Jesse ordered us a table and joined us after work. It can be a little difficult to find as it is not well advertised on the street and is downstairs. Don't blink, or you'll miss it.
I ordered a smokey whisky on a couple of ice cubes. I don't like too much ice or it spoils the flavour. It was really nice. The boys had whiskey flight tastings which come with bacon. This is a unique and interesting way to do whiskey tasting. So cool. 😎

It was wonderful to see the family again after quite a while and enjoy everyone's company together.
The only regret that I have is that I didn't take any photos of our trip to Toodyay with Dylan, Janine & Leigh and also our couple of dinners with Jesse & Ellen when she came back from visiting her family in Esperance. Even though I am a macro photographer, I fail miserably when it comes to taking family photos. 😞
